General Wolfe Print SOLD | $0.00 USD

A late 19th century chromolithograph print of General Wolfe in original mahogany frame, in very good condition. Size of print 14" x 11". James Wolfe was the commanding officer of the British expeditionary forces that took Quebec in 1759, defeating the French army commanded by Louis-Joseph Marquis de Montcalm on the Plains of Abraham just outside the walls of Quebec city. Both Generals were mortally wounded during the battle.

William C Craig Watercolor | $950.00 USD

Watercolor landscape, Hudson River area, New York State, by William C. Craig (Irish-American 1829-1875), signed and dated 1870. Size 14" x 10" in good condition, mounted in a 20th cent. glazed frame, 20"x 16". Born in Dublin, Ireland, William Craig achieved recognition as a watercolorist in his native country before moving to New York in 1863 at the age of 34. In 1866 he became one of the founding members of the American Watercolor Society along with Samuel Colman and William Hart. The artist painted mainly landscape views, especially throughout upstate New York in the style of the Hudson River School painters. He also took a trip to Kentucky and Ohio in 1865. In his mid forties, Craig died tragically by drowning whilst swimming Lake George, New York.
